Goh Guat Kian as MOTHER
Goh Guat Kian is one of Singapore’s leading veteran actresses and a mentor in Singapore’s
Chinese theatre scene. In 1982, she graduated from the Practice Performing Arts School Programme.
But Guat Kian does not restrict herself to Chinese theatre as she is one of the few Chinese
actresses that crossed over to English theatre. During her colorful career, she has performed
in more than 50 plays. Her critically acclaimed performance in the monologue My Mother’s Wooden
Chest was invited to the 8th Asian Mono Drama Festival in 1998. Most recently, Guat Kian won Best
Actress at the 6th Life! Theatre Awards. Her acting credits also include starring in Lao Jiu:
The Musical and Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea.
